The Designer

Samar’s Secrets is the vision of Samar Dabboussi, a Lebanese designer, born on 1 January 1957, whose journey is deeply rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and cultural identity.

A mother of four daughters, Samar’s path into design was shaped not by convention, but by instinct and lived experience. Known for her innate sense of style and refined taste, she began making clothes for her youngest daughter at the age of 36, what started as a personal expression of elegance soon evolved into something more.

At the age of 40, Samar formally stepped into the world of design, drawn to artisanal heritage clothing and the cultural depth it embodies. Her early work was shaped within a space of memory and material, an apartment owned by her father in the historic souks of Tripoli, North Lebanon, filled with textiles from his trade. There, she transformed the space into her first atelier, working with existing fabrics to create pieces that carried both history and individuality.

Raised between the world of textiles through her father, a textile trader, and a lineage marked by strength and distinction, Samar developed an intuitive understanding of fabric, detail, and the art of creation. Her work reflects this dual influence: precision in material and boldness in expression.

The brand was born in the historic souks of Tripoli under the name Artizanat Al Souk Al Kadim “the craft of the old souk”, and from its inception catered to an elite clientele, offering artisanal pieces that embodied heritage, refinement, and a sense of grandeur.

In 1998, Samar brought her vision to Dubai, recognizing a wider appreciation for the abaya as both cultural attire and a statement of elegance. Since  then, she built a presence in the region before establishing her atelier and boutique in Doha, Qatar, where the brand continues to serve a niche and distinguished clientele, including members of royal circles.

Today, with over 30 years of experience and deeply rooted industry connections, Samar extends this legacy into the digital space, making the essence of her creations accessible to a wider audience, while preserving the exclusivity, craftsmanship, and identity that define the house.
